This technical paper will address the introduction and development of the all electric riveting and positioning systems designed and manufactured at Gemcor. The industries desire to have reliable machines which are both clean (oil and leak free) and quiet while not compromising cycle rate were the driving force behind this development. The main topics of discussion will be the All Electric Space Shuttle Intertank Fastening System G86 and a design evolution to the new Multi-Flex configuration which is in the process of being delivered for a challenging airframe application (220 degree lobe riveting) with the majority of the focus on the advanced technologies developed for use in the upper and lower riveting heads.
