The objective of the present work is to assess the performance of modifications applied to the intake ports of an internal combustion engine, including dimpled intake ports, in terms of steady state flow and actual engine power output, as follows: Steady state flow and engine torque are improved over the original intake when the port and valve seats are enlarged. However, the dimpling shows no actual improvement in the steady state flow measurements and similar peak torque values compared to the configuration without the dimples were measured.
