This paper outlines the design engineering and process development work being done by SEGER + HOFFMANN AG to further the industrialisation of advanced composites using RTM (Resin Transfer Moulding) technology. The developments made in the areas of preform technology and mould filling techniques have reduced RTM costs considerably. These process developments, together with improved resin technology, have led to cycle time reductions which can now make RTM an attractive production technique for automotive applications.
