A batteryless kick-start system was adopted as the engine starting method of four-stroke engine motorcycle for trials competition in order to reduce the vehicle mass. The integrated throttle body developed for small commercial motorcycles was diverted to the ECU (Engine Control Unit), which is the central part of the fuel injection control system. The power to start the fuel injection control system uses the startup power generated by the AC generator when the kick-starter is operated. A new control system was adopted with consideration for drivability required for trials motorcycle with the requirement for slight and rapid throttle operation. This control system performs two calculations per one combustion stroke and has the logic to regulate the position in which the fuel injection finishes in order to decide the fuel injection quantity and injection timing. Therefore, the above system promotes enhancements in the drivability of trials motorcycle. Furthermore, the users can set data inside the ECU as required.
