Auto racing, while global in scope, is a relatively small community. But as compressed as we may be, chasms do exist--particularly in the dissemination of information. SAE-Motorsports looks for avenues to disseminate the information engineers and safety experts develop making the SAE is an excellent source for the information the SCCA needs. This paper gives an overview of the scope of SCCA competitive activity and discusses what the SCCA has initiated thus far in disseminating important safety and engineering information. The paper will also explore the goals and objectives of the SCCA and the SAE to identify commonalities, to close chasms, and to build bridges of collaboration allowing us to achieve levels of cooperation that benefit the auto racing community.
