Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) ceramic heaters have been used for many years in automotive applications as a self-regulated source of electrical heat. In 1984, several diesel powered passenger vehicles will begin to utilize these devices as fuel heaters to prevent wax formation and filter blockage during cold ambient operation. This paper describes the design and performance of PTC diesel fuel heaters.
