This paper describes a strategy for the development of polyurethane foam for instrument panels using quality function deployment (QFD) as the planning tool. QFD directs the development campaign succinctly towards addressing the specific goals of the customer. Under the framework of QFD we propose first running a Monte Carlo designed experimental campaign. We will describe this strategy (QFD, Monte Carlo design) within the context of a case study, thus illustrating its effectiveness.
