Structural ceramic gas turbine components have been designed, fabricated and tested in the CATE (Ceramic Application in Turbine Engines) and AGT (Advanced Gas Turbine) programs. This paper describes the work on ceramic turbine vanes in the CATE Program and shows the planned near-term utilization of this technology in production engines. Ceramic radial turbine rotor design and development work in the AGT 100 program and the possible future application of this rotor in an advanced cruise missile engine are also discussed.
