Window materials in space vehicles have a number of requirements: to provide visibility, act as a shield for ultraviolet radiation, act as a reflector of infrared radiation, have low permeability of oxygen, be resistant to temperature and pressure changes, and so forth. This paper describes the screening tests undertaken to evaluate window materials for the LEM manned space vehicle. Particular analysis is made of protected and unprotected stretched acrylic.
