The present review examines the procedures of aerospace engineering education in Germany. It emphasizes on university- and Fachhochschule-based undergraduate and graduate education leading to a national professional engineering certification. The major focus lies on the requirements for obtaining those degrees. Relevant secondary school preparation necessary for admission is also described. As an example, a typical university program is shown through the aerospace engineering curriculum of the TU Muenchen’s faculty of mechanical engineering. Furthermore the research environment of German universities is described. Finally, the involvement in international university networks, such as the European and transatlantic cooperation programs, is shown.
