This SAE Recommended Practice provides for standardized steel disc wheel radial runout low point marking. This marking is used for match-mounting tires on wheels to minimize assembly radial force variation. It applies to tubeless 15 degree drop center disc wheels for use on class 5, 6, 7, and 8 commercial vehicles. The current SAE Recommended Practice includes both steel and aluminum wheel profiles. None of the major US wheel manufacturers low point any aluminum wheels for use on class 5, 6, 7 and 8 vehicles. The proposed revision is to add the word “steel” in the scope and to remove the aluminum wheel profiles from the document to align with industry practice.
