This paper looks at plastic exposure testing to SAE J576 and FMVSS 108 specifications from the point of view of an independent testing laboratory. Major changes in government specified testing are not seen for the near future. Tests which are most likely to be considered for improvement or modification include heat tests, inner lens test procedures, accelerated tests and haze tests. Lens coatings should also be considered.
