Polyphenylene oxide resins, a new class of engineering thermoplastics, offer the automotive engineer good mechanical properties which are relatively constant over the normal automotive operating temperature range. This paper relates the properties of PPO resins to automotive performance requirements, discusses the prospects for satisfactory performance in typical use conditions, reviews basic processing information, and suggests automotive applications for PPO resins.
