Southwest Research institute (SwRI) has developed a microcomputer-based control system for two developmental diesel engine-powered dual-path hydrostatic (hydraulic) transmission-driven tracked military vehicles.1 This paper will present the steady-state and dynamic performance of the drive-train components in terms of actual test data and computer simulations. Open-loop control of the transmissions which were field tested wilt be described. Closed-loop control equations which were developed under an SwRI internal research project and simulated dynamic vehicle response under closed-loop control will be presented.
