This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice covers the recommended requirements for the lighting and characteristics of instruments; information plates and displays, emergency, cautionary, advisory and status displays; circuit breaker and toggle switch positions; and the recommended requirements for the utility lighting system. Two documents had similar wording and scope ARP1161 and ARP4103. Multiple reviews were done to compare both documents. Review found that ARP1161A information is old and not up to date to include newer flight deck lighting technology. ARP4103 covered duplicate information and was more up to date. Final review done at the fall meeting 2017 concluded to stabilize ARP1161A and make ARP4103 the prime document in this area.
