Aerospace companies are now being squeezed by tight margins and the spotlight has fallen on the need to reduce costs and increase productivity. In the search to achieve this Reconfigurable tooling is playing an increasing role. Bombardier's Belfast site has invested in 3 Reconfigurable tooling solutions and is actively perusing the next generation flexible tooling cells and Reconfigurable tooling solutions. This paper describes the solutions achieved and what is expected from suppliers and the Belfast site in the future.
