The article describes the set-up of a linear and a non-linear model of a proportional valve in a system with external load and a fixed pump. The non-linear model is simulated using CSMP and results of the simulation will be presented.By means of the linear model and the state space method, the stability of the proportional valve with loadmass as parameter is discussed. The article illustrates how it will be possible by means of the aforementioned computer methods to predict the influence of different parameters on the stability of a proportional valve, even in complex operating situations.
