A company that can create and implement its own technology is potentially the most competitive type of company. Far too often technology creation is not followed-up by implementation. To transfer technology easily, there must be a good match of backgrounds between the developer and user groups. If there is no close match, then it may be necessary to transfer people to create a user group that will serve as implementation champions. For any technology to be transferred, it must first be proven sound through at least prototype parts. The actual practice of technology transfer depends critically on the communication skills between people. Management's role in technology transfer is to aid in making communication easy.
