This paper traces the evolution of Piedmont Airlines (Winston-Salem, North Carolina) from a very small feeder airline beginning in 1948 to an International Airline operating into Canada and England with an all-jet powered fleet in 1989. At this point, they were merged into US Air and lost their identity as Piedmont Airlines--forty years of aviation history.
