Abstract The paper considers the techniques of process setting for multifunctional CNC machines. On the basis of experimental data, the statistical characteristics are determined for process setting implemented by the conventional contact method and contact measuring systems. The results obtained permit judicious selection of a technique for process setting with regard for the accuracy of parts being machined.
