Embracing the call to achieve Vision Zero, the international movement to end fatalities on our roads, has never been more vital. As the author writes this message, the National Safety Council (NSC) has released preliminary data showing that as many as 40,000 people died in motor vehicle crashes in 2016, the highest number in nine years. After a period of declining fatalities from 2000 -- 2013, NSC now reports an alarming move in the wrong direction. Partnerships will play a key role in this critical task of moving toward zero. No one entity or organization can hope to reach this goal alone. ITE is a founding member, and he serves on the Steering Committee, of the Road to Zero coalition, which has already grown to more than 200 members since its inception in October 2016.
