In this paper, the problems of collisionless flows over a cylinder or a sphere are investigated. New flowfield formulas for the specular surface scenario are obtained, whereas past formulas to the scenario of a diffuse surface are simplified. All formulas are evaluated with a computer code. Several simulations with the direct simulation Monte-Carlo are performed, and the results are compared with these analytical results. In general, the agreement is satisfactory. These analytical results are quite complex; however, they explicitly illustrate the effects from several parameters, such as the specific heat and temperature ratios, and several geometry factors.
