Quality evaluation indicators for railway infrastructure: Track, civil engineering, power supply, signalling and telecommunication installations - Within the framework of a research programme conducted by the Laboratory of Transport Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, indicators were developed for the evaluation of infrastructure quality of railway lines carrying traffic at conventional speeds (V < 200 km-h) which, at the end of 2000, were applied to the railway network of Greek State Railways OSE. In this article, the methodology that was adopted to determine the indicators, their definition, their mathematical expressions, their optimal values and, finally, a calculation of indicator values for a hypothetical route, using hypothetical data, is presented.
