Space and earth science missions are being transformed by applying a distributed approach towards cooperative event driven operations capturing rapid science phenomena. Onboard autonomous navigation and guidance directly enhances this pull by providing in-situ situational awareness and operations without ground in the loop. Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) has promoted a center wide technology effort with the Distributed Systems Mission (DSM) initiative alongside the navigation, guidance and controls internal development associated with autonomous Navigation, Guidance, and Control (autoNGC) flight software. This study bridges the gap between the broader strategic GSFC vision with component level autoNGC development by focusing on an advanced concept Enceladus constellation mission design. The mission design presented in this study provides a means to frame current single spacecraft onboard GNC and operational decision making in the context of a homogenous distributed system.
