NASA Glenn Research Center is preparing to perform experimental testing on various Stirling Convertors in the < 100-watt range. Prior to testing, a variety of computational simulations are being performed with the convertors-only (in isolation), and with the convertors equipped with an anticipated insulation and heating package that will be part of experimental test article. The goal is to develop a calculation methodology that will assist in predicting the convertor parasitic losses as well as estimating convertor efficiency. Three different cold-end temperatures will be explored on two different convertors, and the contribution of radiation within the heater head itself was included.
