The goal of the NASA X-57 Electric Airplane was to utilize the versatility and efficiency of electric propulsion to design a cruise optimized airplane. The wing planform was reduced 42%. A slotted flap and distributed fan system were developed to achieve CL?s in excess of 4.0. Performance objectives, features of the wing and high-lift system, as well as integration considerations will be discussed. CFD performance analysis and details of the integrated structure will be discussed.
