This grant supported travel to attend meetings of the SOFIA Science Working Group during the two year period above. The Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) is a modified Boeing 747 that contains a 2.5 meter infrared optimized telescope. SOFIA's mission is to explore star formation and galaxy formation in the early Universe through far-infrared spectroscopy and photometry. The two years encompassed by this grant were critical to the anticipated first fight with SOFIA in 2002. During this period, the'technical details of the facility were developed and NASA was guided in the release of the SOFIA aircraft development and management RFP. This grant supported travel for the PI during this period both to NASA Ames, and Washington, DC to attend working group meetings. There were no inventions under this grant.
