A 2D numerical model for a turbulent surface jet issuing into a finite-depth channel is presented. The model uses an unstructured, finite element procedure. The calculations confirm the experimental observation that scale similarity may be apparent in the mean velocity profile even in the presence of a large encroaching recirculation cell.
