The Jet Calibration and Hover Test Facility at NASA Ames has been constructed to perform small scale experiments in hot gas ingestion and jet effects for STOVL aircraft. This new facility and how it is employed to examine the problems associated with STOVL configurations hovering in- and out-of-ground effect are presented. Some of the test procedures and results are described.
