Report presents theoretical analysis of chemical and thermal nonequilibrium phenomena in stagnation region of blunt body traveling through sparse atmosphere at many times speed of sound. Analysis employs continuum-theory approach and based on viscous-layer and incipient-merged-layer regimes of rarefied flow.
