Strategies for round-trip missions to Mars with stopover are reviewed. The significant characteristics of the two main classes of stopover mission, whose midpiont corresponds either to the date of earth-Mars conjuction or opposition, are described. Strategies for round-trip flybys, fast round trips, and split missions are also considered. The latter involves a separate, prior mission in which cargo is sent to Mars.
