The difficulty in correlating models of solar irradiance variations from ground-based observations with spacecraft data is examined. Methods for modeling total solar irradiance are reviewed. A photometric program is described which produces sunspot irradiance fluctuation information that is repeatable to within 10 millionths of the mean irradiance. The results from this program are compared with model irradiance fluctuations based on published sunspot and plage areas.
