The design, construction, and testing of laser anemometer configurations for hot section velocity measurements is discussed. The optimization of the laser anemometer systems include the data processing algorithms used. Some relevant hot section properties considered are high temperature with a large background radiation, difficulty of optical access, large flow velocity variations, the presence of solid surfaces that generate reflections and low seed particle density.
