A sounding rocket flight to image a point X-ray source and to determine the detector background characteristics in a space environment is evaluated. The verification of the HRI detector design in a flight environment is described. The environmental factors, including ambient neutral and charged particle densities, the electromagnetic radiation field, and the vibration and acceleration induced at launch, that affect the operations of the HRI are discussed.
