The current NASA technology program aimed at auxiliary and primary electric propulsion is summarized. The early application of this technology continues to be a major goal of the program. The status and objectives of the presently planned flight experiments and the future technology goals in auxiliary electric propulsion are reviewed. Progress and direction of on-going programs for developing the technology of solar electirc primary propulsion are also presented.
