On December 14, 2001, a 68-year-old male fire fighter apparently become unconscious while driving a tanker to a reported chimney fire. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which slid down a 100-foot embankment. Despite CPR and ALS procedures, the victim died. A few days after the death, the Fire Chief of the Department notified NIOSH of the death.
