In April-May 1970, naval maneuvers were conducted under the code name Okean. For the first time in the history of the Soviet Motherland, ships of our four fleets -- the Northern, Pacific, Black Sea, and Baltic -- operated under a unified plan over enormous expanses encompassing the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and the adjacent seas. The book tells of the high combat training of the Soviet seamen and naval commanders who participated in the Okean maneuvers. Its articles, essays, reports, and illustrations demonstrate the might of the Soviet Navy, capable of fulfilling any mission assigned by the party and government. Many pages in the book are devoted to party-political work during the exercises. (Author)
