The National Guard has ongoing requirements for Incident Awareness and Assessment (IAA) capabilities to support domestic operations, and its associated training and exercises. The domestic response for Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Nate, Maria, and the northwest wildfires in 2017 expanded use of high resolution commercial imagery and opened the aperture for use in other mission areas. This project provides an overview of current commercial high resolution unclassified satellite imagery capabilities and an analysis of how these capabilities could meet National Guard domestic response mission requirements.
