This report contains the test procedures, test setup and test results from the first of four broadside crash tests between a 1995 Honda Accord LX four-door sedan and the Federal Outdoor Impact Laboratory (FOIL) 300K instrumented rigid pole. The test was conducted at the Federal Highway Administation (FHWA) FOIL located at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC) in McLean, Virginia. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) enlisted the FHWA to aid in the development of laboratory test procedures to be used in a revised or amended version of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 201 (Occupant Protection in Interior Impact). This new test procedure could be used in the evaluation of dynamic side-impact protection systems (e.g. air bags).
