The Soviet Luna-11 lunar probe was designed to continue the investigation of the moon and near-lunar space which previous vehicles of this type began. The trajectories of Luna-11 and Luna-10 are compared. Special instruments on the Luna-11 were designed to determine the chemical elements of the lunar surface and to observe long-wave cosmic emission. Other transmitting instruments were designed to provide data on the concentration of meteor streams and their distribution, and the intensity of hard corpuscular radiation near the moon during the circumlunar orbit. Most of the equipment and instruments of the Luna-10 probe were somewhat modified for the Luna-11 lunar probe.
