The basic task of the program was the development of two types of space navigation instruments, a sextant and a stadimeter, and the subsequent testing and qualification of the instruments. The report contains a thorough description of each instrument and includes: design parameters, general description, principles of operation of the mechanical, electrical and optical subsystems, instructions for use, pre-flight and in-flight certification procedures, and calibration procedures. In addition to the design parameters and general description of the instruments, the report covers procedures for the acceptance test program and environmental test program and the results of the program. A reliability analysis and suggestions for future work also form a part of the report. (Author)
