This is a follow-up project to perform field operational tests of a conservation traffic control load switch developed in an earlier IDEA project (NCHRP-IDEA project 8). The current project developed a manual for installation and operation of the conservation traffic control load switch. About 100 switch units were assembled and provided to state highway agencies and municipalities for evaluation. Based on the feedback received from the highway agencies, the switch housing design was modified. The specifications and NEMA certification of conformance for the switch system were completed.
