Resistance and propulsion experiments were conducted with Model 5326-1 to aid in the resolution of the propeller cavitation and airborne noise problem experienced by the Auxiliary Oiler AO 177 and to validate possible remedies. The experimental program involved the evaluation of two tunnel-fin configurations and one accelerating-fin configuration fitted to the stern of the model. The results of the resistance and propulsion experiments show that the addition of the fins did not significantly change the propulsion performance. (Author)
