An evaluation procedure is described for the prediction of the performance of paint systems applied to ships' bottoms. It is capable of yielding meaningful results in a relatively short time with sample panels immersed under near natural conditions. Results are obtained with the steel panels cathodically protected and also when unprotected. Also, results are described of ship trials with a bottom system which gave good performance under service conditions as predicted by the evaluation procedure. (Author)
