The report reviews current and potential power plants for marine propulsion and the status of coal-water mixture (slurry) technology. It examines the problems of using coal-water mixtures in those power plants that can potentially use this fuel-form. The results of this examination are employed to give a preliminary assessment of the potential and suggest, where appropriate, the need for additional research and development.
