The project will replace the Lexington to Paris Road, which runs through a portion of the scenic Blugrass Region. It begins at a point in US 27 and US 68, 2500' northeast of I-75 at Lexington, and extends toward Paris with the existing road to the junction of Horseshoe Drive, 200' north of Houston Creek and 4000' southwest of Paris, a distance of 12.1 miles. The impact of the proposed improvement should be the replacement of a dangerously congested two lane road with a four lane, high speed, parkway type highway and thus a safer, quicker trip, as well as enhancement of property values, to points between Lexington and Paris. Also, the economy will be stimulated especially at Paris where its desirability for industrial sites will be greatly increased. The environment will be effected adversely by noise, air and water pollution during construction, the loss of old and scenic trees, the displacement of thirteen families, the rearrangement of a private country club and the loss of a rented recreation ground by a private school.
