The making of genuine comparisons is a complex matter. Nowhere is this more apparent than when comparing fares on domestic services in the USA with those in Europe. Modern airlines offer a broad range of facilities, not only at different prices but with widely varying standards and conditions. Part 3 of the report makes a detailed comparison of UK-Europe 'Normal' fares with comparable fares on US domestic routes from New York and Atlanta. Part 4 makes a comparison of a sample of UK-Europe and US domestic routes over the full range of the fares on offer on each. Part 5 extends the comparisons to yields, giving a broad indication of how many people are travelling at what fare levels.
