The article is a discussion of 'Lunokhod-1' by way of a reply by the director in charge of development of the self-propelled chassis to questions of a Pravda correspondent. The director discusses the background and purpose of the lunar vehicle, how it was built, why wheel were used, and the different problems encountered along the way. Many tests were carried out through the use of special vacuum chambers and appropriately designed laboratory stands. Tests were also performed on the ground in an area best simulating lunar soil.
