To meet concern over the RF induced susceptibility of electronic systems (eg, fly-by-wire and full authority engine control), changes are being made to regulations to ensure that civil aircraft meet specified immunity requirements. The seminar covered the interim and impending changes to the certification procedure resulting from the work of the European EURACAE and United States SAE and RTCA Committees. The early papers covered regulatory requirements, the environment and the route to compliance. Practical design considerations dealt with modeling and analysis and aircraft equipment protection. The final papers discussed aircraft test requirements and quality control during manufacture, maintenance and modification. All the speakers came from either the SAE or EUROCAE working groups responsible for producing the documentation which will support the new procedures. The proceedings include a delegates list.
