The objective of the research study was to review previously conducted research efforts utilizing the Highway-Object-Simulation Model (HVOSM) for simulation of curb impacts and to reassess the validity of the HVOSM for this mode of operation. The study demonstrates that: The HVOSM provides an accurate prediction of the change in vehicle path due to changes in geometric elements; When comparing HVOSM path predictions to full-scale test results, the dynamic properties of the vehicle used in the full-scale tests must be inputs for the simulated vehicle.
